Thai Nguyen

 

With an area of 22,300 hectares, Thai Nguyen is one of the leading provinces in the country in terms of cultivated area, quantity and quality of products from tea trees.

Thai Nguyen is a land associated with traditional tea trees. Tea products are brought to all regions and foreign markets, loved by tea connoisseurs and many demanding markets. Many people know the delicious Tan Cuong tea with the saying “The best tea.” The most famous tea growing areas are Tan Cuong, La Bang, Vo Nhai communes with high quality tea. Thai Nguyen traditional green tea is famous for its aroma, bitter taste, and sweet aftertaste.

 

For many years now, in most tea regions of Thai Nguyen, people have built for themselves a strong brand "Thai tea" through high quality and food safety: Tan Cuong, Dong Hy, La Bang... .and gradually conquer domestic and foreign consumers. Tan Cuong Organic Tea Club (Nam Thai hamlet, Tan Cuong commune, Thai Nguyen city) is the first unit in the country to be granted a Product Certificate by the International Organic Organization IFOAM and ICEA (Italy). Clean tea products according to European standards. La Bang tea has been granted a Trademark Protection Certificate by the Intellectual Property Office since 2008.

 

Yen Bai

 

Shan Tuyet tea is considered a specialty of Yen Bai province, known not only in Vietnam, but also in many countries around the world.

 

In particular, Suoi Giang Shan Tuyet tea is in Van Chan district, located at an altitude of 1,500-1,800m above sea level, with a mild climate with tens of thousands of ancient tea trees over 100 years old, some up to 300 years old. and is one of the world's oldest remaining tea trees.

 

The entire Yen Bai province currently has about 3,630 hectares of tea, distributed in 8/9 districts and cities. Among them, there are more than 3,000 hectares of Shan Tuyet tea, yielding 75,000 tons of fresh buds each year, most of which is intended for export.

 

Ha Giang

 

As the province with the third largest tea area in the country, with an area of over 20,000 hectares, Shan Tuyet tea is a key crop in the agricultural economic development of Ha Giang.

 

In addition, the tea raw material areas in the province are all associated with mountainous and forested terrain, along with many tourist-attracting destinations, so tourism in the Shan Tuyet tea raw material area here is also considered a highlight. exploit and maximize efficiency. Ha Giang ancient Shan Tuyet tea is distributed in localities surrounding the Tay Con Linh mountain range with an altitude of nearly 2,500m; All tea areas grow naturally and have been planted since ancient times. Now they have grown into ancient trees. Many tea trees have a radius equal to two human arms.

In particular, the large raw tea areas are all year-round cloud-covered and have beautiful terrain and charming scenery; is a highlight that attracts many tourists who want to explore and experience mountain culture in general and tea culture in particular.

 

In Dan Khao village, Thuong Son commune (Vi Xuyen) - a tea raw material area known as "cloud tea", tourists often come to enjoy the ancient tea trees and experience the manual tea production process. of indigenous peoples.

 

Stories about the origin of the tea tree, stories of people growing, caring for and benefiting from an economic crop "bathing" in the clouds and sky; making tourists who love to explore always interested in coming here.

 

Son La

 

Located at an altitude of about 1,800m above sea level, Ta Xua commune, Bac Yen district, Son La province, is blessed with a cool climate and majestic and beautiful landscape.

 

Here, the Shan Tuyet tea variety is also known with many trees that are hundreds of years old, giving them a unique tea flavor that cannot be found anywhere else.

 

With those values, people and local authorities are making efforts to make this brand known and used more by domestic and foreign consumers.

The ancient Shan Tuyet tea forest with an area of 140,000 hectares is being protected by the Mong ethnic people.

They consider this an "ancient treasure" that helps them escape poverty and become rich. Among them, Ta Xua currently has more than 200 hectares of Shan Tuyet tea; Of which, nearly half are ancient tea trees, concentrated in Be, Ta Xua, and Chung Chinh villages. Due to year-round cloud cover, high humidity and cool fresh climate, the Shan Tuyet tea tree here has large buds, and under the tea leaves is covered with a layer of fine fluff, white as snow, people here often call it snow tea.

 

Freshly harvested tea buds are put into a synchronous tea processing line, applying modern technical processes combined with many years of manual experience of indigenous people to create high quality finished products. Thanks to that, Shan Tuyet tea from having no brand has now become a national 4-star OCOP product. At the end of 2019, the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Nature and Environment awarded a Certificate of Heritage Tree Population recognition to 200 ancient Ta Xua tea trees in Be village.

 

Phu Tho

 

Considered the "cradle" of Vietnam's tea industry, Phu Tho province has implemented many solutions to develop tea trees towards sustainability, quality, and ensuring food safety. Phu Tho is a midland region with many large hills suitable for growing tea trees. This is one of the localities with the largest tea area and output in the country, including: tea yield reaching 118 tons/ha; output reaches more than 185,000 tons/year; The area ratio of new tea varieties reached 75.3%, of which the structure of varieties serving green tea processing is about 30%.

 

Currently, Phu Tho has risen to rank fourth in area with more than 16,000 hectares of tea and third in tea output nationwide. Having been granted a collective trademark since mid-2016, through many ups and downs, up to now, Chua Ta green tea products of Chua Ta tea craft village (Tien Phu commune, Phu Ninh district) are known to many consumers.

Besides the raw material areas for processing black tea exported to many countries around the world such as India, China, Germany, England, in Phu Tho, there are also raw material areas for green tea processing (grown with LDP1 varieties). , Kim Tuyen, Phuc Van Tien...) in districts: Tan Son, Thanh Son, Doan Hung, Thanh Ba, Phu Ninh, Ha Hoa.

 

Lam Dong

 

Lam Dong is one of the provinces with the largest and oldest tea growing area in Vietnam. Blessed by nature, fertile land, suitable climate and the special advantage that the province is located at an altitude of 800-1,000m, the quality of Lam Dong's tea is confirmed to be delicious, fragrant, and sweet. 

 

Currently, the total tea area in the province is 11,287.4 hectares of all kinds of tea; Of which, the business area is 11,176.6 hectares; Output reached 160,729.5 tons. Tea trees in Lam Dong account for 25% of the area and 27% of the country's tea output; concentrated mainly in localities such as Bao Loc, Bao Lam district, Di Linh, Da Lat city… In addition to producing traditional black teas and green teas, in recent years, businesses, establishments, and households have also linked up, produced and processed Oolong teas of foreign origin such as Kim Tuyen, Tu Quy, Ngoc Thuy, Thanh Tam... are valuable and bring high income.

 

Among the 34 provinces and cities nationwide that currently produce and trade tea, Lam Dong has the earliest history of growing and having the tea industry, with the establishment of Cau Dat Tea Factory in 1927, built by the French. and the entire Cau Dat area was planted with tea on the hills by the French.
